About XVII SIEFLAS

The XVII International Seminar on Physical Education, Leisure and Health (SIEFLAS) originated at the Institute of Child Studies at the University of Minho in 2003. In 2007, the idea of alternating the organization between higher education institutions in Portugal and Brazil was born, and this came to fruition in 2008 with the first internationalization of the seminar. The event is now held almost every year, alternating between Portugal and Brazil, with the exception of 2016, when it was held in Leipzig, Germany.

In 2024, its 19th edition will take place at the Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo in a hybrid format (in-person and online), in order to give continuity and consistency to this event, providing another opportunity to bring together researchers, teachers, students and professionals from the sector, from all continents, for reflection and debate on relevant topics in the area of Physical Education, Leisure and Health.

With the central theme "Building bridges, challenging horizons", there will be conferences, round tables, symposia, oral and poster presentations by national and international researchers, promoting scientific production and dissemination, creating a space for dialogue between everyone, strengthening networks of interest, knowledge and inter-institutional and inter-territorial cooperation.
